Music in the soul can be heard by the universe - Lao TzuThe universe is vibrational in nature, a co-creative environment of invisible resonant energy, influencing and responding to our state of being. We enjoy calling our present state of being (including thoughts, feelings, emotions, and beliefs) – our resonance.

Nothing is more empowering to me than knowing that my state of being shapes my world. Inner harmony is the key to actualizing my desires.

I’ve experienced how my environment can influence my resonance. If I see a story on the news that resonates with my own experiences, any matching feelings will ring out within me. I like to notice what resonates in that moment, what thoughts and emotions come into my awareness, and explore what it means to me.

I’ve also experienced how my resonance influences my environment. When I’m feeling a sense of gratitude, I notice more positive things. My mood also influences those I’m in contact with as I spread my joy with a simple, authentic smile.

I better understand my world experience when I correlate it with the resonance of sound.  When a sound rings out, the invisible vibrations of sound waves are passed through the air and wherever the frequency matches an object, those objects begin to vibrate (resonate) as well.  Our video demonstrates sound resonance, with the piano ringing out the specific strings that match the sung pitch frequency.

The sound resonance relationship is how I’m able to conceptualize the resonance of my state of being interacting with the universe.  My resonance is co-creative in nature, as I notice what resonates with me from my environment, and my environment responds to my resonance.  What I notice in my environment is whatever resonates within me, and my state of being resonates and rings out in the universe.  It’s pretty cool.

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves – Dalai LamaI find it gets really self-empowering for me the more I am able to get to a state of inner harmony. It’s a principle similar with the teachings of Lao Tzu and the Dalai Lama. I find it easiest to understand when I see and feel it through my musician’s lens.

If these ideas resonate with you as well I encourage you to join Dianem and I on June 10th. We’ll share entertaining music and insights on the power of resonance with our audience during our Empowerment Concert for Inner Harmony.
